"In the study we analyzed mRNA expression by the nCounterNanostringPanCancer Pathways panel containing 730 cancer-associated genes in sequential liver biopsies from the same patient at two points in time: once when no hepatocellular carcinoma was present in the liver (1st biopsy) and once a hepatocellular tumor was present in the liver (2nd biopsy), in parallel we analyzed sequential biopsies from cirrhotic patients which remained tumor-free over a similar time free. 25 patients which developed hepatocellular carcinoma and 24 patients which remained tumor-free were included." |
